Israel Beiteinu announced on Thursday that Miki Fishman, who previously headed Yesh Atid’s Russian-speaking outreach staff, has joined the party and will support chairman Avigdor Lieberman as his choice for prime minister. Fishman also served as chief of staff to former tourism minister Yoel Razvozov, worked as a parliamentary adviser, and was once a Yesh Atid candidate in municipal elections in Netanya.
In a farewell message to his former colleagues, Fishman thanked Yesh Atid for allowing him to serve in what he called the “government of change” and wished the party success going forward. He then explained why he is backing Lieberman, saying that given Israel’s current complex reality, Lieberman is “the right person to lead the State of Israel.”
Fishman described Lieberman as a determined and strong leader with broad experience who, in his view, would stand firm against Israel’s security, economic, and social challenges. He said he was proud to join Israel Beiteinu and to take part in what he called an important effort to bring real change to Israel.
The move is another boost for Israel Beiteinu among Russian-speaking voters, and it comes amid a series of political shifts in the center-left camp ahead of the approaching elections.
