During the G7 leaders’ meeting in France, U.S. President Donald Trump complained that the chair he was given was too low and that he could not raise it any higher. He even asked his neighbor, Sam Altman, whether Altman had managed to adjust his own seat. The scene unfolded shortly after Trump had arrived an hour late and declared himself “the boss.”
According to the report, the other leaders then looked for a way to resolve what had become an ego issue for Trump, who apparently did not want to appear shorter than the rest of the group. The solution came from Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who agreed to give Trump his own chair.
It is not clear whether Carney’s seat was actually higher than Trump’s original one. The incident, captured on video, spread quickly online and drew attention because of the awkward moment between the two leaders at the summit.
