Travelodge, one of the world’s largest hotel chains, formally apologized after an antisemitic message appeared on guestroom television screens at its Travelodge London Manor House hotel in north London on June 3, 2026. Jewish guests in different rooms reported that when they switched on the TV, the greeting screen appeared alongside the slogan "Free Palestine."
Following a complaint from UK Lawyers for Israel, Travelodge chief executive Jo Boydell wrote to the group and described the message herself as "an antisemitic message." According to the letter, the company immediately opened a wide internal investigation, reported the incident to police, and apologized directly to the affected guest and to the Jewish community.
In a separate official statement, the company said, "There is no place in our business or in wider society for antisemitism or discrimination of any kind." Travelodge said it is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all guests.
UKLFI welcomed the apology and the company’s acknowledgment of the seriousness of the incident. Travelodge said its internal investigation is continuing and that it is expected to introduce further steps to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
