Dor Micha, 34, is at the center of an unusual battle for his services among Israel’s National League clubs, even though he has never played in the second tier. The veteran midfielder is being viewed as a potential difference-maker for a promotion push, and his next decision could shape the race to the Premier League.
After earlier reporting exposed Bnei Yehuda’s lucrative offer, M.S. Ashdod has now entered the picture aggressively. Over the past day, the Ashdod club has been putting heavy pressure on Micha to join, led in part by Roni Gordana, who will play for Ashdod next season and is also involved in squad building. Other club figures conveyed the message: “Money is not the issue, decide that you are coming and we will make it work.”
Bnei Yehuda, meanwhile, is prepared to make Micha the highest-paid player in the National League and is counting on him as a leader both in the dressing room and on the pitch. Micha is listening to the offers, but at this stage he still wants to play in the Premier League, with a possible move to Cyprus also on the table.
People around him are advising him, and most are reportedly steering him toward Bnei Yehuda among the two domestic options. The final decision is his, but at age 34 he faces an important career choice as two of the National League’s major clubs hope he will pick them.
