The Al-Aqsa Association for the Care of Endowments and Holy Sites has opened a second mobile Muslim prayer room on Route 6, near Baqa al-Gharbiyye and Jatt, and says it plans to establish more prayer spaces for drivers and the public.
The new facility is intended to provide an orderly place for prayer in accordance with Islamic law, with basic amenities including a carpet and air conditioning. The project is designed to let Muslim motorists pray during their journey in regulated conditions.
There are now two mobile prayer rooms operating along Route 6, one for drivers heading north and the other for drivers heading south. The second room was inaugurated a few days ago.
Attending the opening ceremony were Sheikh Safwat Freij, who chairs the Al-Aqsa Association and also leads the southern branch of the Islamic Movement, Islamic Movement deputy leader Yusuf al-Karem, and MK Walid Taha of Ra'am. The Islamic Movement and the Al-Aqsa Association said they intend to build additional prayer rooms in public institutions for drivers, passengers and the wider public.
