Comedian Louis C.K. will soon have a new special, "Ridiculous," released on Netflix, marking his first appearance on a major broadcaster since the sexual misconduct allegations that surfaced in the late 2010s. The show also appeared as part of Netflix’s comedy festival, "Netflix Is a Joke." For C.K., this will be the first filmed special on a major platform in almost a decade.
C.K. is considered one of the biggest stand-up comedians of his generation. He has won six Emmy Awards, created, wrote and starred in the acclaimed series "Louie" and "Horace and Pete," and wrote for shows including "Late Night with Conan O'Brien." In 2015, he became the first comedian to sell out Madison Square Garden three nights in a row.
Two years later, a New York Times investigation reported allegations from several women that he had exposed himself and masturbated in front of them after asking permission. C.K. did not deny the conduct and issued an apology. Since then, he has been treated as unwelcome in Hollywood, losing jobs on series and seeing projects involving him canceled.
In recent years, C.K. has released several self-produced filmed specials on his own website without involvement from major networks, while focusing on touring internationally, including two visits to Israel in recent years.
