Right-wing activist Sheffi Paz was questioned under caution on Wednesday on suspicion of incitement to terrorism and incitement to violence, after posts she uploaded to X. The investigation centers on several AI-generated videos she shared, including fictional scenarios involving the Supreme Court, among them one in which the Supreme Court building appears to explode.
The videos were created with artificial intelligence and published on X. According to the report, the complaint that triggered the police probe was filed by the Reform Movement and other unidentified parties. The investigation was opened only after approval was granted by the deputy state attorney.
In response, Paz said she was questioned “on suspicion of incitement to terrorism because of AI videos I published online.” She argued that senior prosecutors’ decision to authorize a terror-related investigation over “computer-generated fantasy videos” shows, in her words, that law enforcement is increasingly being used to silence political criticism.
Paz said the videos were “sharp political expression” within a legitimate public debate over the judiciary and the direction she believes it is taking Israel. She added that instead of confronting criticism of Supreme Court justices, authorities repeatedly try to intimidate, deter and silence with criminal investigations, and said, “I do not intend to be silent, I do not intend to apologize and I do not intend to be intimidated. Freedom of expression does not belong only to those who hold the opinions the system sees as correct.”
