Guy Dahan has agreed to join Maccabi Kiryat Gat, the newly promoted club in Israel's National League, in a move described as a surprise. The former scoring leader is returning to Israel after spending last season abroad.
According to a source close to the player, Dahan had “good offers from the Romanian league” but chose to come back to join what he called Kiryat Gat’s “wonderful project.” The source added that the club is expected to reach the Premier League in the coming years and said Dahan is arriving with “huge motivation” to return to the league he left, and to work under coach Roman Zolo, whom he “very much likes.”
Dahan spent the past season at Zimbru Chisinau, where he enjoyed a strong campaign, scoring 10 league goals and one more in Conference League qualifying. During the same season he moved to Unirea in Romania’s top division, and his contract there has now ended.
In the National League, Dahan is considered one of the division’s most proven players. Before leaving for Europe, he stood out at Hapoel Nof HaGalil, and now he is set to continue his career at Kiryat Gat.
