British presenter Jeremy Clarkson, 66, said in the final episodes of the fifth season of The Clarkson’s Farm that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. The Amazon Prime series featured Clarkson telling his co stars Charlie Ireland and Kaleb Cooper, "I have cancer." When Cooper asked where, Clarkson replied, "Where it is is nobody’s business. I’ve known about it since May."
Clarkson said he had disappeared for a week to see a doctor and had undergone a biopsy. He described the cancer as aggressive but said it was caught at a very early stage. He explained that he is already in treatment and is now waiting for surgery, which he said should take place in about two or three weeks.
"I am not stupid, it will be in about two weeks, maybe three. I will have to have surgery, and then the surgery is relatively short, but your body is out of action for a while," he said. Later footage showed him in hospital. Clarkson added, "I started the fifth season in a hospital bed, and we are ending the fifth season and I am back in a hospital bed... part of the treatment did not go as planned, but what I wanted to say was that if everything works out, I will see you in season six, and if not, I won’t."
Ahead of the broadcast of the last episodes, Clarkson posted an Instagram video hinting at "bad news" to be revealed. He said the final two episodes would be unlike the show’s usual cheerful tone and that they were "hard to watch."
