A new attraction is taking shape in Eilat, where a 40-meter Ferris wheel is being built in Terminal Park. The ride will have 26 cars, including four VIP cabins equipped with a minibar. At its highest point, visitors will be able to see the city, the gulf, and, according to the company, four different countries.
The wheel is being built by Skywheel Eilat and is described by the company as the most advanced in Israel. The project is expected to be only the third Ferris wheel in the country, after those at Superland and Luna Park. Completion is currently expected by the end of July, after which it will still need final approval before opening to the public.
Terminal Park sits on the site of Eilat’s former airport, which closed seven years ago and reopened in early 2024 after delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the war. The park’s operators hope the new attraction will help make it a major destination in the city, especially as summer approaches and the current ceasefire is still holding.
Entry to the park is free, with visitors paying separately for each attraction, although the park plans to eventually introduce a wristband for access to multiple rides. It is open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., when the weather is cooler. The Ferris wheel will join existing attractions such as bumper boats, a zip line and a slingshot, alongside free family activities including a promenade, lounge areas, a playground and rotating events with water zones, inflatables, workshops, shows and food trucks.
