Israel Opens Trade Chamber in Bosnia and Herzegovina's Republika Srpska

A ceremony was held in Banja Luka to mark the opening of an Israeli trade chamber in Republika Srpska, a constituent entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The event was attended by Israeli Minister for Diaspora Affairs Amichai Chikli, Israeli Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Galit Peleg, and Republika Srpska President Sinisa Karan, Prime Minister Savo Minic, and representative to the Bosnian presidency Zeljka Cvijanovic. Minic identified energy and infrastructure as priority areas for cooperation with Israel, stating, "In the energy sector, we have several huge projects. Others are related to infrastructure. We want this investment cycle to be realized as soon as possible, and for us to have foreign partners in any case." However, specific projects and participating Israeli companies were not disclosed.

Republika Srpska, while unable to establish its own embassies, has maintained a representative office in Jerusalem since 1998, one year after Bosnia and Herzegovina opened its embassy in Tel Aviv.
