Hezbollah Condemns Israeli Aggression, Urges Lebanon to Reassess Strategy
Hezbollah issued a statement condemning what it described as escalating Israeli aggression against Lebanon, including killings, bombings, and the destruction of homes and villages. The group held the Lebanese government responsible for continuing what it called a "futile" negotiation process, urging it to "recalculate its accounts" and return to "unified national constants." Hezbollah also called on Lebanese citizens to unite in confronting the aggression.
The statement detailed that Israel's actions involved systematic destruction of homes and villages, erasing landmarks, and undermining all aspects of life, all without deterrence and on flimsy pretexts. Hezbollah claimed that recent Israeli aggression resulted in four deaths and dozens of injuries, occurring amidst international silence, "blatant American complicity," and the Lebanese authority's complete absence from its responsibilities. The group criticized the government for its "shameful insistence" on continuing "wrong, de-escalating, and submissive choices" that have led to occupation and continued Israeli aggression.
Hezbollah asserted that this aggression, which it claims is conducted with "full American partnership, cover, and planning," aims to pressure and blackmail the Lebanese government into implementing known agendas, potentially by plunging Lebanon into internal strife. The group argued that the government's continued pursuit of this "absurd, illegitimate, and unconstitutional path" provides Israel with cover for its aggression and allows it to achieve its objectives and impose conditions on Lebanon.
The party dismissed claims by the Lebanese government that its direct negotiations and a "sinister framework agreement" with Israel are yielding results, pointing to the ongoing occupation, aggression, and bloodshed as evidence of their failure. While acknowledging the importance of the release of some Lebanese prisoners, Hezbollah stated it cannot be a cover for overlooking continued aggression, occupation, and killing, nor a justification for persisting with a failed approach that has not protected Lebanon or its people. The group recalled that the Lebanese government had previously stated it would not engage in negotiations before Israel ceased its aggression.
Finally, Hezbollah called on the Lebanese government to abandon its stubbornness and put aside disputes for the good of Lebanon and its people, urging a return to unifying national principles that protect Lebanon's sovereignty. It also appealed to all Lebanese to stand together in a unified national stance to preserve Lebanon's strength, resilience, and sovereignty against Israeli aggression.
