Russia Designates New 'Foreign Agents,' Including Israeli Resident

Russia's Ministry of Justice has added several individuals and organizations to its registry of 'foreign agents.' Among those designated is Sergei Leibgard, a publicist and poet residing in Israel. Also included in the updated list are Felix Sandalov, former editor-in-chief of the publishing house Individuum, and Professor Tatiana Tatarinova.

The registry also expanded to include the publication 'Novaya Gazeta' and the journal 'Istoricheskaya Ekspertiza.' 'Novaya Gazeta' ceased its print operations in 2022 following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, and its media license was revoked by a Moscow court the same year. The newspaper's editor-in-chief and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Dmitry Muratov, was previously designated a 'foreign agent' in 2023.
