Unity Party Slams Blue and White After Failed Merger Talks

Sources within the Unity Party harshly criticized the Blue and White party on Friday following the collapse of merger negotiations between the two parties. The sharp remarks came after briefings from Blue and White concluded a recent meeting between the parties' representatives.

"The briefings from Blue and White, immediately after [Likud Minister] Gilad Erdan left his meeting with Benny Gantz, reveal more than anything who truly wanted unity and who was only interested in media prominence," stated Unity Party sources. These sources directed criticism at Blue and White's conduct during the talks, alleging that while the Unity Party sought a union, Blue and White did not act in a manner conducive to reaching an agreement.

Furthermore, the sources claimed that Blue and White did not engage in discussions on substantive issues during the negotiations and was unwilling to take the necessary steps for a merger. "We can only regret that Blue and White never attempted to discuss substantive issues, and did not agree to go all the way for unity to unite the bloc," they said.

The strong reaction from the Unity Party follows reports that Blue and White stated after another meeting between Gantz and Erdan that Gantz had announced there would be no union. The Unity Party, however, presented a different account of the failed talks, placing the blame on Blue and White and suggesting their actions indicated a desire for media attention rather than genuine unity.
