African Ambassadors Moved to Tears During Israel Visit, Vow Support

Six ambassadors from African, Asian, Latin American, and Pacific nations serving at UN institutions in Geneva visited Israel this week, touring sites in the Gaza envelope, including the Nova music festival massacre site and Sderot. The delegation, led by Israel's Ambassador to the UN in Geneva, Daniel Carmon, aimed to expose them to the realities Israel has faced. During the visit, the Gambian Ambassador to the UN in Geneva, Momodou Kah, stated he now truly understands the events of October 7th, calling them "unfathomable." Kah, who chairs UN committees on technology, expressed interest in bringing life-saving technologies he saw at the Sderot technology hub to the UN. He also visited the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Fiji's Ambassador, Isikeli Tuiwa, pledged to contact his prime minister to request engineers for the rehabilitation of Gaza envelope kibbutzim. Ambassador Carmon reported that the delegation wept twice during the tour: first at the Nova site after hearing a survivor's testimony of bravery, and again at the "Save a Child's Heart" foundation, where they met children from their home countries who had undergone life-saving heart surgeries, alongside Ethiopian and Zambian doctors training in Israel. Carmon noted the ambassadors praised the resilience of the Israeli people and observed coexistence in Jaffa. While acknowledging this doesn't guarantee their countries will vote with Israel at the UN, he stated they are full partners in discussions and highlighting Israel's contributions.
