President Herzog Inaugurates Rabbi Amital Center at Yeshiva Har Etzion

President Isaac Herzog attended the inauguration ceremony for the Rabbi Amital Center at the Har Etzion Hesder Yeshiva in Alon Shvut. The center, established in memory of Rabbi Yehuda Amital, a founder and long-time head of the yeshiva, aims to foster unity within Israeli society, particularly during election periods when divisions sharpen.

During his visit, President Herzog met with the yeshiva's leadership, including Rabbis Yaakov Madan, Baruch Gigi, and Moshe Lichtenstein, as well as center staff, to learn about its planned activities. He then addressed the attendees, which included Knesset members Moshe Solomon and Moshe Kinley Tor-Paz, Gush Etzion Regional Council head Yaron Rosenthal, and members of Rabbi Amital's family.

"The Torah from which we drink must unite us, not divide us," Herzog stated, emphasizing the need to remember Rabbi Amital's legacy of peace and love for the Jewish people, the land, and Torah. He called for unity as essential for the future of the nation, land, and Torah.

Rabbi Beni Lehman, head of the Rabbi Amital Center, spoke about the graduates' deep sense of responsibility for the nation's spiritual and historical mission. He cautioned against elevating one value to an absolute, potentially neglecting others, and stressed that "unethical means can corrupt the goal."

Rabbi Baruch Gigi, head of the yeshiva, noted that over its sixty years, the yeshiva has opened "many windows to the city street" in various public spheres. The establishment of the Rabbi Amital Center, he said, represents another step in this outreach, serving as "windows of the study hall."
