Jaafar Farah, the second-ranked candidate on the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality (Hadash) list, is expected to announce his resignation from the party's slate in an official statement on Saturday morning, according to sources speaking to Kul al-Arab.
Following Farah's potential departure, internal deliberations suggest a strong inclination to nominate a Christian candidate, either male or female, for the prominent second position. Should Farah formally resign, the Hadash secretariat will be required to convene the party's General Assembly, comprising approximately 1,000 members, on Saturday. The assembly will then hold elections to select a new candidate for the second spot on the electoral list.
While lawyer Shadi Shuwayri, who competed against Farah in the primary elections, is considered a potential contender, the party's leadership appears to favor elevating a Christian representative.
