Sources have informed Kul al-Arab that Jafar Farah, currently second on the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality (Hadash) list, will officially announce his withdrawal from the party in a statement on Saturday morning. Ongoing deliberations within the party suggest a strong inclination to nominate a Christian woman to fill the prominent second position on the electoral slate, a decision expected to be finalized over the weekend.
Should Farah formally resign, the Hadash secretariat will convene the party's General Assembly, comprising approximately 1,000 members, on Saturday to elect a new candidate for the second spot. While lawyer Shadi Shuwayri, who competed against Farah in the primaries, is considered a potential candidate, the party's leadership appears to favor a Christian female representative.
