Beitar Jerusalem Owner Defends Team Amidst Loss

Beitar Jerusalem owner Barak Abramov defended his team and coach Almog Cohen following a disappointing 3-0 loss to Hapoel Tel Aviv. Abramov stated that it's premature to judge the team's performance after only a few matches, particularly after a strong start in European competitions. He acknowledged dissatisfaction with the last two games but cautioned against declaring everything negative, emphasizing the need to build player confidence.

Abramov addressed the role of Almog Cohen as coach, comparing his situation to that of former manager Barak Yitzhaki, who also lacked prior coaching experience. He asserted that he and Cohen are committed to a long-term vision for the club, with Cohen having a three-year contract. Abramov believes Cohen is a top professional and that the team will eventually show a more dynamic performance.

Regarding team acquisitions, Abramov highlighted Beitar Jerusalem's budget of 79 million shekels, with 33 million allocated to player salaries. He stated that the club did not sell players despite opportunities to earn 10-11 million shekels and that all requested players were acquired. Abramov also mentioned plans to sign a player for the defensive midfield position (number 6).

Abramov concluded by reiterating his belief in the long road ahead for the team and stressed that the players are ultimately responsible for both successes and failures. He noted that the club's current budget is the highest since the days of former owner Arcadi Gaydamak.
