Green Leaf Party Joins Israel First for Knesset Elections

The Green Leaf party has announced its merger with the newly formed Israel First party, led by MK Sharren Haskel, to run together in the upcoming Knesset elections. The announcement was made by Haskel and Green Leaf chairman Nir Yofet during the central launch event for Israel First in Tel Aviv.

The merger aims to combine Israel First's security and economic platforms with Green Leaf's focus on individual liberties, cannabis legalization, and the rights of medical cannabis patients. The joint list intends to advance cannabis legalization, reform medical cannabis regulations, and reduce bureaucratic hurdles for patients.

Additionally, the parties pledged to promote research and treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder and mental health, with a particular emphasis on soldiers and civilians affected by conflict. Former Lt. Col. (res.) Roi Danino highlighted the need to remove barriers and provide adequate support for those injured in war.

Haskel described the union as a "natural connection and a closing of a circle," stating that she had long advocated for legalization and individual freedoms in the Knesset. She asserted that the alliance unites the "Zionist and liberal right with the young, free, and anti-establishment force of Green Leaf," aiming to dismantle bureaucracy and prioritize citizens.

Yofet stated that the partnership provides an opportunity to transform Green Leaf's long-standing advocacy for patients and citizens into official policy. He emphasized their intention to enter the political system to enact change rather than seeking concessions from it.
