Tamir Idan Departs as Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council Head After 14 Years

Tamir Idan is concluding his 14-year tenure as the head of the Sha'ar HaNegev Regional Council, bidding farewell to residents in a personal letter. Idan expressed gratitude to the council's employees, reflecting on his years of service and announcing his upcoming role as chairman of the board for the new Amidar company.

In his letter, Idan thanked the residents for the opportunity to lead the council, which he described as a home, community, and family. He highlighted the resilience and mutual support demonstrated by the region's residents, particularly during the "Swords of Iron" war. Idan credited the council and community center staff for their significant contributions to education, community affairs, welfare, security, infrastructure, culture, and municipal services, praising their professionalism, responsibility, and dedication.

Looking ahead, Idan outlined development plans for Sha'ar HaNegev, including the establishment of the new community of Ofir, an anticipated doubling of the population, expansions in existing communities, a high-tech and innovation center, and the renovation of public buildings and infrastructure. He expressed confidence that the foundations laid would enable continued growth and make the region a desirable place to live.

Idan acknowledged the emotional difficulty of leaving his position, stating that Sha'ar HaNegev and its residents were more than a workplace, representing a deep mission. He also shared details of his new significant opportunity to serve as chairman of the board for the "New Amidar" company, viewing it as a chance to continue contributing to the country, particularly in public housing, a field close to his heart.

As the next council elections approach, Idan urged residents to maintain unity despite political differences, emphasizing that their shared home is greater than any disagreement. He called for respectful dialogue and mutual responsibility, assuring residents that while he is stepping down as head, he will remain a part of the community as a resident and friend, always available to assist.

Idan concluded his letter with thanks for 14 years of trust, partnership, support, and love, reiterating that serving the residents was the greatest privilege.
