Child Abduction Suspect's Identity Release Delayed; Victim Traumatized

A court has permitted the release of the identity of a suspect in the abduction of a 10-year-old boy, Yahli, who was taken from Petah Tikva to Bnei Brak. However, the court has delayed the execution of this order until Sunday at noon, allowing the suspect's defense team to appeal. Police suspect the 20-year-old Jerusalem resident may have a pattern of targeting other minors, and sought to release his name and photo to encourage potential additional victims or their parents to come forward.

The boy, Yahli, is reportedly suffering from severe emotional distress and trauma, making it difficult for him to recount the events of the abduction. Investigators clarified that his difficulty in providing details stems from his psychological state, not forgetfulness. His interrogation was paused and will resume when he is able.

The suspect's arrest has been extended by six days, and the case is expected to be transferred to the State Attorney's Office for indictment consideration. Investigators discovered that after approaching children at a playground and asking to use a mobile phone, the suspect deleted the dialed number from the call log. He also faces a prior indictment from March for mobile phone theft.

During court proceedings, the suspect's mother stated he has long-standing mental health issues, minimal family contact, and has slept rough. His lawyer added that the suspect has special needs and has previously been in therapeutic and rehabilitative programs. The mother also mentioned he was previously attacked by adults and criminal elements.
