Rehovot Municipality and Absorption Ministry Partner on Immigrant Support
The Rehovot Municipality and the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration will collaborate to enhance support services for immigrants in the city. This agreement stems from a recent working meeting between Rehovot's Deputy Mayor, Adv. Karin Bar-Ginski, and the Director-General of the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration, Dganit Sankar-Langa, along with ministry officials.
During the meeting, Adv. Bar-Ginski highlighted several key issues affecting both new and veteran immigrants in Rehovot. A primary concern discussed was the cessation of support for veteran immigrants by the ministry and the necessity of examining continued assistance for this group. The need for funding language-speaking staff within the welfare system to improve accessibility for immigrants was also addressed, as was the condition of housing complexes for immigrants and their associated needs.
Officials from both the municipality and the ministry participated in the discussions, including senior department heads and regional managers. Following the meeting, it was decided that an interdisciplinary professional meeting would be convened with relevant stakeholders. The goal of this future meeting is to consolidate issues concerning new and veteran immigrants, assess required services, and formulate solutions for the challenges raised.
Adv. Bar-Ginski stated, "Rehovot is home to many immigrants, new and veteran, and our responsibility is to ensure they receive the support and services they need throughout their years here. In the meeting, we presented significant issues to the Ministry's management, including support for veteran immigrants, accessibility of welfare services, and the condition of housing complexes in the city. I thank the Director-General and her team for the professional dialogue and their willingness to continue our joint work. We will continue to work with the Ministry to advance practical solutions and provide immigrants in the city with accessible services tailored to their needs."
