New Jerusalem Residence Opens for Lone Immigrant Women Serving Israel

A new residence has opened in Jerusalem to house lone immigrant women who have completed a year of religious study, made aliyah (immigrated to Israel), and chosen to serve in national or military service. The initiative, owned by the Association for Volunteering, aims to provide a supportive environment for these women.

Alongside the immigrant women, Israeli national service volunteers will also reside in the building. These Israeli volunteers will mentor and assist the new immigrants in their integration process. The establishment of this shared living space is a joint project between the "HaRova," "Sha'alvim," and "Tiferet" seminaries, in cooperation with the Association for Volunteering.

Minister Orit Strock attended the opening and addressed the residents, calling them a "miracle of the ingathering of exiles." She acknowledged the difficulties involved in immigrating to Israel and emphasized the government's commitment to supporting them. "We know how difficult it is, which is why we are here to hold your hands, to give you a hand on the difficult path you have chosen, and to help you overcome the challenges," Strock stated.

The minister highlighted national service as an ideal pathway for new immigrants to feel at home by actively contributing to the nation's needs. Jeremy Koznitz noted that, following Minister Strock's initiative, the service conditions for lone immigrant women have recently been improved, facilitating their better absorption into Israeli society.
