Police Investigate Suspected Arson in Ramat Gan Yarkon River Fire

Police are investigating whether a brush fire that raged for three hours along the Yarkon River in Ramat Gan on Wednesday was intentionally set. The fire had two ignition points between the Ramat Gan Stadium and the training stadium behind Ayalon Mall, near the Makabeiah Bridge. No arrests have been made.

Fire investigators examining the scene have raised suspicions of arson, according to the Fire and Rescue Services. The blaze began shortly after 7:00 PM in a grassy area along the riverbanks, behind the Ramat Gan Stadium and a training field, near train tracks. This proximity led to the temporary suspension of train traffic in the area.

Seven firefighting and rescue teams worked to extinguish the fire, which spread to both banks of the river due to dry brush and grass. The fire was put out after three hours, with crews performing final extinguishment and search operations to ensure no one was trapped. The public has been asked to avoid the area.

Train traffic resumed after the fire was extinguished, though delays and route changes affected services in the area and at stations in the Sharon ring due to the fire's location near the tracks in the Bnei Brak vicinity. The incident concluded without any injuries.
