Maccabi Tel Aviv Player Tyris Asante's Brother Stars in Dutch Second Division

Delano Asante, the older brother of Maccabi Tel Aviv's key defender Tyris Asante, is enjoying a successful start to the season with MVV Maastricht in the Dutch second division. While Tyris Asante, who joined Maccabi Tel Aviv in the summer of 2024 and has been a stable presence for the Israeli Cup holders, was unavailable for their opening two league matches due to health reasons, his brother Delano is making waves.

Unlike Tyris, who turned professional at 19 and has represented the Netherlands' youth teams, Delano had a later breakthrough. He played semi-professional football for years before signing his first professional contract with MVV Maastricht in the summer of 2025 at the age of 25. Despite the age difference and distance, the brothers maintain a close relationship. In November 2024, Delano missed a training session to attend Tyris's match against Ajax at the Johan Cruyff Arena, expressing his excitement about seeing his younger brother play in the packed stadium.

MVV Maastricht, which has not played in the top Dutch league since 2000, has had a perfect start to its second division season, winning all four opening matches. This strong performance places them in a leading position for automatic promotion. Delano, primarily playing as a right winger, has started in all four games and contributed an assist in the first match against Utrecht's reserve team.
