Candidate Removes AI-Generated IDF Propaganda Video After Legal Threat

Omri Ronen, a candidate for the "Democrats" party and an activist with "Brothers in Arms," has removed a propaganda video from his social media accounts. The video, which used artificial intelligence to depict IDF soldiers and simulate operational activity, was taken down following a legal warning from the "Im Tirtzu" movement. Im Tirtzu had threatened to petition the Central Elections Committee for an urgent order to remove the content if it was not immediately taken down.

Im Tirtzu's legal team argued that Ronen's use of IDF uniforms, weapons, and military equipment in a staged combat scene for political gain constituted a blatant and illegal use of IDF assets. They asserted that this action violates sections of the Elections Law concerning propaganda, which prohibit the use of public property and IDF resources in election campaigns to maintain the military's apolitical status.

Ronen, through his legal representatives, denied the accusations. He argued that Im Tirtzu's complaint was significantly delayed and lacked specific details. Despite these arguments, Ronen ultimately decided to remove the video from all his social media platforms after the movement's legal counsel contacted him.

Matan Jarfi, CEO of Im Tirtzu, reacted strongly, stating that Ronen confused the movement and that they would not allow him to continue disrespecting the IDF and its soldiers. He vowed that "the people of Israel will not forget or forgive the people of Brothers in Arms" and that Im Tirtzu would defeat them in every public arena until they disappear from public life.
