Spanish PM Retracts Accusations Against Israel Over Ceuta Migrant Crisis

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez stated in a parliamentary session in Madrid that intelligence services have ruled out any state involvement from Morocco, Russia, or Israel in social media posts that allegedly spread false information related to the mass influx of migrants into the enclave of Ceuta last month. Sanchez had accused Russia and Israel of spreading this disinformation just three days prior.

During the peak of the surge on July 30, Sanchez also claimed that Moroccan police allowed the infiltration for a 10-hour period. He emphasized that there is "no solid evidence" that Morocco initiated the mass assault. The Prime Minister's revised statements come after initial accusations that seemed to point fingers at specific nations for the misinformation campaign surrounding the border crisis.
