Settler and Israeli Forces Conduct Over 2,000 Attacks in West Bank and Jerusalem During August

Following a violent night in the village of Al-Mughayyir, north of Ramallah, where two youths were killed by Israeli forces and settlers, settler attacks, protected by Israeli forces, continued across the West Bank and East Jerusalem. In the Ramallah and al-Bireh Governorate, settlers, some armed, engaged in provocations around Al-Mughayyir, while Israeli forces maintained a blockade on the village outskirts. Settlers also entered agricultural lands near Beitin and Turmus Ayya, vandalizing property and setting tires ablaze. In the Nablus Governorate, settlers attacked farmlands in Qusra and Jalud, firing at farmers to prevent them from accessing their land. In Huwara, settlers drove through the town in provocative convoys, throwing stones at Palestinian vehicles under heavy Israeli military protection. In the Hebron Governorate, settlers attacked Palestinian shepherds in Masafer Yatta and Dhahiriya, confiscating livestock and attempting to establish new settlement caravans. In the northern Jordan Valley, specifically in Khirbet Khalat Makhoul and Ein al-Hilweh, farmers were harassed and simple water infrastructure was destroyed, aiming to displace residents. In the northern Yarza gathering east of Tubas, settlers damaged water lines, cutting off supply to the community. In occupied East Jerusalem's neighborhoods of Silwan and Sheikh Jarrah, settler provocations led to confrontations, with settlers throwing stones at homes and issuing eviction threats. Settlers also gathered near military checkpoints at the entrances to Shuafat refugee camp and Anata, insulting Palestinians passing through.

These incidents occurred as the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission documented a total of 2,030 attacks by Israeli forces and settlers against Palestinians, their lands, and property in the West Bank and East Jerusalem throughout August. The commission reported 628 settler-specific attacks during the month, resulting in the death of one teenager, injuries to 164 Palestinians, and significant property damage. The attacks also included the destruction and uprooting of over 21,500 trees, with nearly 19,400 being olive trees, highlighting a systematic targeting of Palestinian livelihoods.
