Netanyahu's Wife May Be Forced to Apologize in Court, Ex-Aide Claims

Former Netanyahu aide Nir Hefetz predicted that Sara Netanyahu will ultimately be compelled to apologize in court as part of a legal settlement, rather than pay damages.

"I don't believe, from my acquaintance with her, that she will take the risk of paying money for this, and she will pay," Hefetz stated in an interview on Radio 103fm. He suggested the legal proceedings would be prolonged until after the upcoming elections, after which she would be "forced to apologize in court."

Hefetz also commented on the reciprocal lawsuits and the focus on the Tel Aviv hair salon incident, interpreting it as indicative of the family's mindset. "The story is about them. Whether they remain in power or not, that is the train of thought," he said, contrasting this with the sacrifices of soldiers and Nova massacre victims.

Furthermore, Hefetz criticized the Likud campaign's strategy and its engagement with conspiracy theories surrounding the October 7th events. "I am confused, I don't understand the event. An agenda like this or the issue of draft evasion are not good for winning elections," he remarked, comparing the current situation unfavorably to successful campaigns he previously managed for Netanyahu.

He described the Prime Minister as being reactive rather than proactive, stating, "Call it desperation or panic. He is walking around with a fire extinguisher and is forced to put out fires. Netanyahu is not in a campaign, he is on the defensive."

The legal dispute began when Yair Golan, chairman of the Democrats party, sent a warning letter threatening a NIS 2.5 million defamation lawsuit against Sara Netanyahu over her remarks on Channel 14 concerning his actions on October 7th. In response, Netanyahu sent her own warning letter to Golan, demanding an apology and compensation for his statements regarding the events at the Tel Aviv hair salon siege.
