Nazareth School Dismisses Students Early After Double Murder

The Parents' Committee of Ibn Amer Public School in Nazareth decided to dismiss students early on Thursday, following two murders that occurred the previous day, resulting in the deaths of three young men from the city. In a statement signed by committee head Jihad Shihwan, he explained the decision was made "in the wake of the painful and grave event that befell our town yesterday, and the painful and disturbing atmosphere it left in all our souls." He added, "In our concern for the psychological safety of our children and protecting them from exposure to any scenes or situations that may affect their sense of security and stability, I saw, in my capacity as head of the Parents' Committee, and after consultation with a number of committee members, that it is our duty in these circumstances to dismiss the students today from school at exactly 10:00 AM."

Shihwan further stated that the decision stems from a shared responsibility towards the children and a commitment to prioritizing their well-being and psychological safety, especially during this exceptional time. He urged parents to cooperate and adhere to the scheduled time for picking up their children. The statement concluded with a prayer for the deceased and a plea for the safety of the community.
