Antonio Sefer Returns to Israeli Premier League with Bnei Sakhnin Loan
Midfielder Antonio Sefer has signed with Bnei Sakhnin on loan from Bnei Reineh, marking his return to the top tier of Israeli football. The transfer was reported by Sport 5 on September 2nd, 2026. Sefer, 26, joins Sakhnin under manager Yossi Abukasis.
Sefer's decision to remain with Reineh after their relegation earlier in the summer had raised eyebrows, especially after both Maccabi Petah Tikva and Bnei Sakhnin had expressed interest. Reineh initially refused to release him, but eventually agreed to allow him to return to the Premier League. This move is expected to free up budget space for Reineh to sign new players.
Bnei Sakhnin had been pursuing Sefer since last month, and his arrival is anticipated to allow them to release Angolan player Norberto Carlos, who joined the club this summer. Sefer arrived in Israel in the 2023-2024 season, playing for Hapoel Be'er Sheva before moving to Bnei Reineh for the 2025-2026 season.
Throughout his time in the Premier League, Sefer has made 54 appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing 11 assists. This will be his third club in the top division.
