Nasrin Kadri: A Look at the Israeli Singer's Diverse Career on Her 40th Birthday

Nasrin Kadri, a prominent voice in Israeli music, is celebrating her 40th birthday. Known for singing in both Hebrew and Arabic and blending pop, Mizrahi music, and Arabic classics, Kadri has performed on numerous stages throughout her career. Born in Haifa to a Muslim Arab family and raised in Lod, she developed a passion for music from a young age, often imagining herself as a star in an Arabic film.

Kadri honed her skills performing in Arabic at small clubs in Jaffa and Palestinian cities before gaining national recognition. Her breakthrough came in 2012 when she participated in the second season of "Eyal Golan Calls You," reaching the finals and winning first place. This success propelled her from club performances to mainstream fame.

Her debut album was released in 2014, featuring hits like "Hayati" and "You Make Me Feel Good." In 2015, she made history as the first Israeli Arab woman to perform at the Piano Festival. Kadri has also honored Arabic musical heritage by performing classics by Umm Kulthum with the Israeli Andalusian Orchestra.

A notable achievement was her 2017 collaboration with Dudu Tassa and The Kuwaitis, opening for the band Radiohead on 11 US dates and later performing for tens of thousands in Tel Aviv's Yarkon Park. That same year, she performed at significant Israeli state events, including the Memorial Day ceremony and the Independence Day torch-lighting ceremony, expressing a sense of belonging.

Beyond music, Kadri has explored acting, appearing in the musical "Suleika," "The Wizard of Oz," and the thriller series "Jerusalem." She also served as a judge on "The Voice Israel," participated in the reality show "Golshtar" (women's football), and was named player of the season. In 2018, Kadri completed a conversion process and added the Hebrew name "Bracha." She married Rom Shamir, with whom she has two sons, born in 2022 and 2024. The couple divorced in 2025.
