Dor Micha Reflects on Career, Difficult Exit from Beitar Jerusalem

Dor Micha, a 34-year-old player for MS Ashdod in the National League, opened up about his career in a podcast interview, discussing his challenging transition from top-tier football to the second division. Micha admitted to still experiencing difficult moments when thinking about playing at a lower level, contrasting it with the large crowds at top clubs like Maccabi Tel Aviv and Beitar Jerusalem. He revealed that he had options in the Premier League but felt he could be more effective in a dominant team, choosing Ashdod over a defensive-minded top-tier club.

Micha detailed his departure from Beitar Jerusalem, calling the decision not to play him in a crucial match against Hapoel Be'er Sheva one of the most "absurd" he had witnessed. He felt that the team's management, specifically Almog Cohen and Barak Itzhaki, signaled his exit, with Cohen advising him to come off the bench. Micha also touched upon the team's management of the squad during the playoffs, suggesting it cost them the championship.

Reflecting on the "affair" that led to his release from Maccabi Tel Aviv years prior, Micha stated that he had tried for years to contact club owner Mitch Goldhar to clear the air, even after the case was closed due to lack of evidence. He sent emails, messages, and called, but Goldhar never responded, even after seeing the messages. Micha expressed that he still has feelings for Maccabi Tel Aviv and dreams of retiring there.

Looking ahead, Micha hopes to help Ashdod achieve promotion to the Premier League, noting the club's desire to inaugurate their new stadium in the top division. He also commented on the National League, which he was warned would be "hell," but expressed hope that he won't face significant difficulties. Micha also shared his thoughts on coaching and media careers post-retirement, stating he is currently focused on playing and hopes to continue playing in the Premier League next season with Ashdod.
