Brazilian Defender Sidney Lima Nears Transfer to Partizan Belgrade

Brazilian center-back Sidney Lima, who was a transfer target for Israeli clubs Maccabi Netanya and Bnei Sakhnin, is reportedly on the verge of signing with Serbian powerhouse Partizan Belgrade. According to Mozzart Sport, negotiations between the clubs are intensifying, with Lima expected to arrive in Belgrade on Thursday for medical examinations.

Partizan is set to acquire Lima on loan from Portuguese club Santa Clara, covering only his salary. The Serbian club will have the option to purchase his contract next summer for approximately 500,000 euros if they are satisfied with his performance. Lima, 29, has been captain of Santa Clara since joining in the summer of 2023 and has a contract until 2027, with an option for a two-year extension.

Lima has made 65 appearances in the Portuguese top league since Santa Clara's promotion in the 2023/24 season, scoring four goals and providing one assist. The 1.85-meter tall defender was a key player in his team's ascent to the top flight.
