IAEA Approves Resolution Requiring Iran to Report Enriched Uranium Stockpile
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) approved a resolution requiring Iran to report the stockpile of enriched uranium in its possession and to allow the agency's inspectors to verify it. Members of the IAEA Board of Governors described the resolution as "necessary and urgent" and called on Iran to allow them "all the access they need."
The resolution, submitted by the United States, Britain, France and Germany, passed by a vote of 21 in favor, three against and 10 abstentions. The opposing countries were Russia, China and Niger. Iranian representatives described the resolution as "political" and "unprofessional."
