Noa Kirel Says She Was 'Eliminated' From Festigal Competition

Pop star Noa Kirel will not be competing in the upcoming Festigal song contest, despite initial expectations for her return to the popular Hanukkah show. Kirel, who previously performed at Festigal in years when it was not a competition, was expected to participate this year in the "Top Secret Festigal" edition. However, it has been revealed that she will not be part of the official competition.

Kirel herself humorously commented on her non-participation during the Festigal launch event, telling the website Mako that the production "eliminated her." The actual reason, however, appears to be related to her role in the show. The production team clarified that Kirel will portray a legendary past winner who will serve as a mentor to the other participants, thus not competing against them as an equal.

This decision means Kirel will not face off against her castmates in the competition. Singer Eden Ben Zaken will also not be competing, as she has been cast as a guest singer. The production team has promised further "intriguing surprises" regarding Kirel's role.

Kirel's return to Festigal follows a break she took for personal reasons and her international career, alongside her husband Daniel Peretz, a goalkeeper. She recently indicated a future need to mentally prepare for a significant career break to focus on expanding her family.
