MK Tatyana Mazaraskaya Will Not Seek Re-election to Knesset

Knesset Member Tatyana Mazaraskaya of the Yesh Atid party announced on September 1 that she will not run for re-election, despite her continued belief in party leader Yair Lapid. Mazaraskaya, who has worked with Lapid for 11 years, stated in an interview with "Vesti" that she considers him an honest politician, a brave leader, and a decent person who treated his party members, including Russian-speaking MKs like herself and Vladimir Belyakov, with respect.

Mazaraskaya entered the Knesset in 2021 when Yesh Atid won 17 seats. She secured her seat through the "Norwegian Law" after fellow MK Konstantin Razvozov was appointed Minister of Tourism. During her tenure, she focused on advocating for immigrants' rights, improving life in Israel's periphery, modernizing healthcare, and assisting Holocaust survivors, the elderly, and residents of northern Israel.

She explained her decision not to seek re-election stems from the party's recent merger with Naftali Bennett's faction, which she believes has reduced the number of realistically winnable spots on the electoral list. Mazaraskaya stated she does not wish to expend energy competing for a higher position on the list, emphasizing that more critical issues face the party.

Mazaraskaya expressed her personal goals, which include pursuing her work on healthcare improvement, drawing on her prior experience in a health maintenance organization. She also plans to return to academia to pursue a doctorate in state-religion relations. She reiterated that her motivation is to effect change and help people, not to gain titles or positions.

She affirmed her commitment to public service, recalling her previous role as deputy mayor of Karmiel, and intends to continue serving the country and its people, even outside the Knesset. Mazaraskaya also pledged to assist Yesh Atid in its election campaign and urged the public to vote on October 27, deeming the election crucial for the nation's future.
