Iran Launches Missiles at Jordan Following US Strikes; Explosions Heard in Eilat

Following reported American airstrikes within Iran, explosions were heard in Jordan overnight Tuesday, with initial reports indicating Iran launched missiles toward the Hashemite Kingdom. These developments come after Iran had threatened retribution for the U.S. attacks. Iranian state media reported the activation of air defense systems in Tehran and Kermanshah, and further reports suggested missile launches targeting Jordan, with explosions also audible in Eilat, Israel.

In parallel, Israel's Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that the Erez crossing would not be reopened for cargo, vowing to continue operations until Hamas is dismantled. This statement was made during a visit to residents of Nativ HaAsara. Gallant also revealed that a senior Hamas security official was arrested in Gaza by the Shin Bet, emphasizing a policy of actively pursuing and eliminating Hamas operatives and infrastructure.

Iranian military sources, speaking to Tasnim News Agency, vowed a response to the renewed U.S. attacks, promising it would be significantly more powerful than the American strikes. A member of the Iranian negotiation team also issued a threat, stating the "Great Satan" would be severely punished. Former U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the situation, claiming the U.S. was conducting extensive and powerful strikes on Iranian targets near the Strait of Hormuz in response to Iran's failed attempt to plant naval mines and its missile launch towards a U.S. base in Jordan, all of which he asserted were successfully intercepted.

Further reports from Iran mentioned explosions at the Qeshm airport, and initial accounts indicated new explosions in Bandar Abbas. Iranian television reported five explosions on Qeshm Island and four in the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, the IDF stated it had recently attacked a commander in Hamas's military wing in the Jabalia area, who was allegedly promoting terror plans against Israeli forces and civilians and working to rebuild the organization's capabilities.
