Arab-Israeli Analyst Weighs Pros and Cons of Jewish MK Joining Ra'am Party

Arab-Israeli publicist Adel El-Hamadeh has analyzed the potential advantages and disadvantages of Yoav Segalovich joining the Ra'am party. El-Hamadeh suggested that a Jewish presence within Ra'am could counter claims that the party supports terrorism. He also posited that a partnership with Segalovich might be Ra'am's key to entering the government and influencing decision-making.

Furthermore, El-Hamadeh theorized that if Segalovich were to join the government, he would resign from the Knesset, making way for another Arab MK. However, he also outlined potential drawbacks, including the possibility that Ra'am might not enter the government, leaving Segalovich to occupy a Knesset seat secured by Arab votes.

El-Hamadeh expressed concern that Segalovich could join a government led by Benny Gantz even if Ra'am itself is not part of the coalition. He also noted that the inclusion of a Jewish member might dilute Ra'am's historical identity as an Islamic party.
