Another Blow to Gantz: Senior MK Michael Biton Considers Leaving Party

Member of Knesset Michael Biton, considered a close confidant of Benny Gantz, is reportedly considering leaving the National Unity party. This follows the recent departure of MK Yael Ron Ben-Moshe, who cited significant disagreements over the party's political and ideological direction.

In her resignation statement, Ron Ben-Moshe explained that her attempts to influence Gantz's decisions were unsuccessful. She stated that the party's new direction no longer embodies the initial "center from the outset" ethos of Blue and White. She expressed concern that the current path, while aiming for unity, might be futile and even damaging.

Ron Ben-Moshe also addressed potential future government implications, drawing a clear line regarding future coalition scenarios. She warned that if members of the "new framework" refuse to join a government led by Gadi Eisenkot to bring about necessary change, it would represent a significant risk and a "bright red line" for her.

Biton's potential departure adds to a series of difficult farewells for Gantz, including the departure of his close associate Chili Tropper. Recent reports also indicated that Gantz was offered "respectable" positions outside of the Knesset and government in exchange for his resignation, but he has firmly refused these offers.
