Son of IDF Legend Meir Har-Zion Joins Ofer Winter's Political Party

Moshe Har-Zion, son of the renowned and controversial IDF fighter Meir Har-Zion, announced on Tuesday that he is joining the "Amcha Yisrael" (Your People Israel) party, led by retired Brigadier General Ofer Winter. Har-Zion, who founded the "Arzi" movement focused on strengthening agriculture and rural areas, will be placed on the party's Knesset list. His movement advocates for protecting state lands, combating agricultural crime, and recognizing agriculture as a national infrastructure.

Har-Zion resides in the Shoshana Estate farm in the Lower Galilee, established by his late father. He previously expressed support for the "Derech Eretz" party. "Winter represents the values I grew up with and believe in, defeating the enemy and settling our land," Har-Zion stated, adding that he intends to focus on agricultural and rural issues within the party. He emphasized the importance of new forces entering politics, especially after October 7th, believing "Amcha Yisrael" best embodies this.

Meir Har-Zion, Moshe's father, was a prominent figure in the IDF, notably in Unit 101 under Ariel Sharon and later commanding a paratrooper company that became the Paratrooper Reconnaissance Unit. He participated in retaliatory operations in the 1950s and was severely wounded in 1956. After recovering, he was involved in the early days of Sayeret Matkal. He passed away in 2014 at the age of 80.
