Son of Israeli Hero Endorses Reserve Brigadier General Ofer Winter for National Leadership
Moshe Har-Zion, social activist and co-founder of the "Artzi" movement, publicly declared his support for retired Brigadier General Ofer Winter as a key figure for Israel's future leadership. Har-Zion, son of the late legendary fighter Meir Har-Zion, emphasized the inseparable link between land settlement, agriculture, and national security, a worldview deeply rooted in his upbringing. He recalled his father's dedication to the land, including establishing an agricultural farm in the Jordan Valley named after his aunt, and described this connection as the practical realization of Zionism.
Har-Zion explained that the "Artzi" movement aims to strengthen agriculture, rural areas, and small towns across Israel, viewing these elements as essential to maintaining sovereignty and security throughout the country, including the Negev, Galilee, West Bank, northern border, Arava, and Golan Heights. He stressed that agriculture and settlement are not merely economic or rural issues but fundamental to Israel's independence, enabling self-sufficiency in food production and defense.
Reflecting on the October 7 attacks, Har-Zion called for a shift from a defensive to a proactive security policy. He praised Winter's approach as embodying the necessary Zionist leadership today, highlighting Winter's determination and readiness to defend Israel's rights and future. Despite different religious and cultural backgrounds, Har-Zion sees a shared vision with Winter centered on unwavering commitment to the land and proactive defense.
Har-Zion concluded by urging the public to view Winter as a future national leader who can unite diverse segments of Israeli society and lead decisively to secure the country's future.
