Maccabi Haifa Faces Competition for Portuguese Winger Rony Lopes

Israeli football club Maccabi Haifa is facing competition for the signing of Portuguese winger Rony Lopes, who is currently a free agent. Lopes, a former Sevilla and Lille player, is also reportedly attracting interest from Polish club Motor Lublin, which is considering a move for him during the current transfer window.

Lopes, 30, previously played for Tondela in the Portuguese league last season, where he scored four goals and provided two assists. He has had a varied career, starting in Manchester City's youth system and moving through clubs like Monaco, Sevilla, Braga, and Alanyaspor. He was purchased by Sevilla in 2019 for 25 million euros.

Despite the transfer window closing, Lopes, as a free agent, could theoretically still sign with a club after the deadline. He has represented Portugal internationally twice and has won the Europa League and the English Premier League in his career. Last season, he recorded one goal and one assist in 29 appearances across Portugal and Turkey.
