Samaria Region Opens New School Year With Record Enrollment

The new school year, תשפ"ז, commenced Tuesday in the Samaria Regional Council with over 25,000 students returning to classes. The opening included the inauguration of eight new kindergartens and four new post-elementary educational institutions. Six of the new kindergartens are located in newly established communities in northern Samaria.

Regional Council head Yossi Dagan, alongside Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, officially opened the academic year. They inaugurated the new Kadima Yeshiva High School in the village of Tapuah, managed by the Bnei Akiva Yeshivot and Ulpanot network. Smotrich emphasized that investment in settlements extends to education, stating, "We are making history in security, settlement, and education."

Dagan described the day as "historic and moving," highlighting the opening of educational facilities in areas where settlements were previously dismantled. "Eight new kindergartens have opened this year in Samaria, six of them in the new settlements in northern Samaria. This is the true Zionist response," he stated, adding that the growing settlement movement is supported by a strong educational system.

The new post-elementary schools include the Kadima Yeshiva High School in Tapuah, the first special education post-elementary school in Samaria located in Revava and managed by the Tomchei Teshin network, and a religious technological high school for girls in the Amit network.

This expansion coincides with the launch of a five-year, 50 million shekel educational development plan by the Samaria Regional Council, aimed at upgrading educational infrastructure to accommodate population growth and settlement expansion.
