Mosque Torched in West Bank; Eight Arrested for Separate Arson Attacks

Tensions are escalating in the West Bank, with security forces attempting to prevent a loss of control in the region. Overnight, Jewish assailants set fire to a mosque in the village of Azaria in Samaria and spray-painted graffiti, including the message "Evacuations = Trouble. You have been warned." No arrests have been made in connection with this incident.

These events follow closely on the heels of riots in Qusra, where over 70 individuals participated in violent acts. In that incident, Israeli rioters attacked a Palestinian home, injuring several residents. Despite the severity of the Qusra riots, no arrests were made at the time.

In a separate development, eight suspects aged 16 to 20 were arrested overnight in connection with several serious arson and assault incidents in the southern Hebron Hills. Three vehicles suspected of being used in these offenses were seized during the arrests. The suspects, residents of the West Bank and central Israel, are currently under investigation, and authorities intend to seek their remand extension in court.

Security officials believe the Qusra raid was a planned operation, not spontaneous, involving vehicle mobilization, funding, and preparation for future legal aid. The Shin Bet and police have compiled lists of participants and organizers from the Qusra riots, with arrest warrants issued for some organizers. Despite efforts to locate suspects, who reportedly receive assistance from locals, no arrests have been reported in that case yet.

The Israeli police issued a statement condemning acts of violence and damage that harm national security and settlements, vowing to continue efforts to apprehend those involved in incidents across the West Bank.
