Sara Netanyahu Questions Yair Golan's Actions on October 7th

Sara Netanyahu, wife of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has raised questions about the actions of former IDF Major General and Democratic Party Chairman Yair Golan on the morning of October 7th. In an interview with Channel 14, she suggested Golan arrived in the Gaza border region very early that day, while she claimed Prime Minister Netanyahu was still unaware of the unfolding Hamas attack.

"When you are a military man of such a high rank and claim to be a fighter on October 7th, you were already there early in the morning, dressed and ready," Sara Netanyahu stated. "At a very, very early hour when others did not know, such as the Prime Minister." Golan, a former deputy chief of staff, did go to the Gaza envelope area on October 7th and participated in rescue and combat operations. Netanyahu's remarks imply questions about the timing of his deployment, though she did not present evidence that Golan had prior knowledge of the Hamas assault.

When directly asked about a "betrayal theory" surrounding the events of October 7th, Sara Netanyahu declined to comment. However, she criticized the calls for a state commission of inquiry into the failures leading up to the attack, suggesting it would be politically motivated. She contrasted this with the State Comptroller's investigation, which she stated was closed that week and, in her impression, was conducted fairly and without bias.

Netanyahu further alleged that senior security officials, including the Chief of Staff and the head of the Shin Bet, did not fully cooperate with the State Comptroller's investigation. She contrasted this with the Prime Minister's immediate cooperation when informed. "There was an investigation, why was it stopped? For what reason?" she questioned. "On the one hand, they say it is needed. This was the only investigation that took place, but they want an investigation whose results are already known."
