French Cousins Enlist in IDF's Hasmonean Brigade
Cousins Gad and Elior, who grew up in France, have enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), joining the Hasmonean Brigade. The two decided to leave their lives in France to serve and defend Israel, viewing it as a deep sense of mission and commitment to the Jewish people.
Before donning their uniforms, Gad and Elior shared their feelings with Channel 7. "It's a very exciting moment," said Elior, whose parents were returning to France after seeing him off. "I know why I came here." They explained their decision to leave comfortable lives in France to enlist in the IDF as a simple matter of duty and commandment to protect their people and land, regardless of where they were born.
Elior's mother, Karin, expressed immense pride in her son's journey to this point. "It's very emotional to bring a son to the army and know that, God willing, he will be a fighter and protect our country," she stated. She emphasized that the love for Israel and connection to the country were integral parts of their children's upbringing, with the message that Israel is their only home.
Karin concluded by sending a message of strength and blessings to her son and all IDF soldiers, praying for their safety and success in defending Israel.
