Hasidic Man Arrested Days Before Son's Circumcision

A Hasidic man, known within the Skver Hasidic community in Jerusalem, has been arrested and sentenced to ten days in military detention for desertion, just days before his son's circumcision ceremony. According to details released by the Hasidic community, the man had recently attempted to regularize his military status but faced bureaucratic and technical obstacles preventing him from reaching the recruitment office. He was reportedly told he could remain in the Eilat area without concern, but was unexpectedly apprehended at the Yotam military camp by army officials, tried, and sentenced to ten days of detention.

The arrest has shocked his family, as the circumcision is scheduled for this Thursday. Family and friends are urgently appealing to military authorities to allow him to attend the family celebration. Close associates emphasize his willingness to resolve his status legally immediately upon his release. They also highlighted the urgency for him to be able to travel to be with his Rebbe, the Skverer Rebbe, in the United States ahead of the High Holidays.
