Lieberman Predicts Opposition Bloc Could Win 63 to 64 Seats
Yisrael Beytenu chairman Avigdor Lieberman said Tuesday morning in an interview with Radio 103FM that the opposition camp is on course for a decisive victory in the next election. He argued that Israelis are ready for a major political change and rejected the idea that the result will be another deadlock or a close race between blocs.
Lieberman compared the coming vote to recent political upheavals abroad, saying, "There will be a scenario like in Hungary, the victory will be sweeping." He added, "The Hungarian scenario is going to return in the State of Israel," presenting that outcome as a model for a clear and stable win.
He also set a concrete target for the future coalition he expects to form with his allies after the ballots are counted. Lieberman said the bloc aims for a "Zionist, state-minded coalition" that will not include the current partners of Likud, and estimated that it would win "63 or 64 seats and even more."
